Somber The Fact

Here's a new acoustic track by Sammy Tenuta, called "Somber the Fact". A few years ago, Sammy and Mario Licciardi were in a band called Wildwood, one of the best around. Just before all of the complications that catch up with bands caught up with Wildwood, they did get into the studio with producer Johnny Nevin to record a track called Live Life Right. It's a carefully-crafted, multi-colored jam that was one of the tracks from the Heart & Soul days that we went back and signed when we were starting the All Over The Place label.

A few months ago, Sammy came back into the Heart & Soul studio to record an acoustic track, and he asked Mario Licciardi to come in with him and play some guitar. Surprisingly, an acoustic song can be a much more difficult track to perform, record and produce than a full rock track. Because there are fewer elements, everything becomes much more important --- arrangement, performance, everything. This version is pretty much the live arrangement -- Sammy playing acoustic and doing the vocal, with Mario adding his really unique visions of guitar where he thought they should go. The only thing different is that Johnny played some organ behind it. Here's the track they put down, it's called "Somber The Fact", and you can catch them live this Saturday --- Sammy and Mario are playing an acoustic set on Saturday, July 24 at 9PM at Rog's, 4255 N. River Road in Schiller Park.
