Rioult Dance NY opens their New York Season on June 4 at the Joyce Theatre (Tickets here). Here's the preview video, incredibly well constructed, like everything we've seen from them.
This is out May 27th on Copyright, it's a smooth, cool House track that sounds good the first time and then even better every time you hear it.
House Music, the real kind, with one of the smoothest background chorus hooks anybody ever found. Of course Sandy Rivera would find it. This is everywhere, you can buy it (like we did) at Traxsource, Juno, Beatport and iTunes US.
Here's a beauty -- it's called "Pink Skye" and the vocal by Renee Stahl is just perfect. Lots of good things to buy here: "Pink Skye" is at Juno (on Anjunabeats Volume 10); for something very different from this, and also excellent, check out Renee Stahl's albums at ReneeStahl.com, and Syntrobic's artist album, Syntrobic.
Gustavo FK is a Brazilian DJ/Producer who lives in Barcelona. Beatport and his Soundcloud call this track Deep House, but it has the colorful creative colors of a lot of the music that comes from the rich and varied worlds of Brazil. It's at Beatport.
Just heard for the first time of a really creative independent artist named Laurence Lloyd Duff, who put this visually bold video together to his song Iris. As cool as the video is, don't miss the imaginative writing and production in the track:
It's kind of hard to believe that it's been nine years since Menno de Jong, the Dutch DJ and producer, released the moody Guanxi on Anjunabeats in 2004. He hasn't stopped, in fact he's accelerating, and here's a a taste of what he's into now, his latest Mixcloud for May 2013.
PowerPlay FYI's A Normal Life features two exceptionally talented vocalists, Pamela Fernandez, who we just did a feature on, and Peter Frank, a bright young singer who already has put together some heavy credits, and who we'll have a story on soon. There's a great new video of Frank on The Eyes Have It and one in the works for Mystery. Getting ready, here's the track:
Buy PowerPlay FYI's A Normal Life at iTunes, Amazon, and eMusic.
First heard this at Supermarket Records, tracked it down at the Supermarket Records Soundcloud and at the Dolly Rockers Soundcloud. It's a jam for sure, and it just dropped at Beatport and Juno, the original (this one) and Cito's Tribal mix.
Here's a quick look at a great documentary about the passion and profession of being a DJ; it's the trailer from a film called Slip Cue, and we're talking with Producer / Director Robin Kupferman about the film's upcoming digital release, and about talking with artists like Junior Vasquez, DJ Sneak and many others, for a story here soon. There's more at SlipCueMovie.com.
